This article examines statements, made during one tribunal session, bringing to bear all available documentary sources and secondary literature. However, they have not been examined for their veracity, accuracy and context. Many of his statements, made before the international tribunal, have since become woven into the historiography of the Third Reich and Nazism. This article examines the influence and performance of Bach-Zelewski. ![]() Between October 1945 and the end of 1949, Bach-Zelewski was interrogated numerous times and made several courtroom appearances in the subsequent trials. ![]() ![]() In 1945, US war crimes prosecutors, in Nuremberg, decided to use former SS officer, Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski as an “expert” witness in the trial against the major Nazi criminals (Göring, et al.).
